Welcome to Curtis Michigan and the Manistique Lakes fishing page. Six major lakes delivering major fun and results! Our area boasts the largest lake complex in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The Manistique Lakes are beautiful and rich with year-round fishing activities.

Curtis Michigan and the Manistique Lakes have 6 major lakes that offer over 20,000 acres of water.  Experience your Curtis fishing adventure on:  North Manistique Lake, Big Manistique Lake, South Manistique lake, Milakokia Lake, Lake Ann Louise, and Millecoquins Lake.
20,000 + Acres of Water
Year-round fishing you will find in the Manistique Lakes area along with the hospitality of the Curtis area and its residents. There are many public access sights on all three lake for easy in and out boating ease.

Well over 20,000 acres of Curtis Michigan area lakes surround our area.  With numerous other small lakes in the area, in addition to the great lakes of Superior and Michigan, and hundreds of miles of rivers and streams, you have one of the best fishing hubs in the mid-west!

Curtis MI Ice Fishing
The Manistique Lakes Area offers many fun filled Ice Fishing Events for all ages.  Ice forms in early December and provides a great source for cold weather sports activities from late December until spring break in mid April. The last Saturday in April brings the opening of Trout season and the Smelt runs.

The six major lakes are: North Manistique Lake at 1,722 acres; Big Manistique Lake at 10,130 acres; South Manistique Lake at 4,001 acres; Milakokia Lake at 1,956 acres; Lake Ann Louise at 311 acres; and Millecoquins Lake at 1,890 acres.

Manistique River and Fox River Fishing Trips
Discover the legendary Fox River made famous by Ernest Hemingway.  This a wilderness adventure for the avid fisherman and experienced paddler.

Numerous dead falls in this wild and natural river makes it tough canoeing but good fishing - amazing brook trout. Overnight fishing trips can take from 1 to 3 nights.

More Water-filled Activities
Most of the waters are 30 ft. or less, so temperatures warm early and are very pleasant for swimming, jet skiing, water skiing, sail boating, fishing, snorkeling, and more. Boats, motors, jet skis, pontoon and paddle-boats are available for rental in the Curtis Area.

We invite you to consider becoming active with our Portage Anglers Club.  The goals of the club include:

  • Maintaining the Walleye Jamboree Event
